SOCIAL ISSUES

Hello Bloggers, this is my last post and today I’m going to talk about the social issues associate with “The Homeless” in Santiago de Chile.

This is a very hard problem that goes back many years ago, that affect all people living in the region, this come back when the people that lived in the field migrate to the city, and coming to secure in the Mapocho river bank or other parts the city, but they lived in appalling condition. Well, after a while this people was displaced to other place that was not in the center of the city.

The homeless, lived in bad condition, suffer overcrowding-as a temporal solution-, a lot of illness, etc. Having no answers and solutions for part to the Government, the homeless began taking radical solutions like “tomas de terreno” (taking fields). This process happened mid XX century, forming the first taking fields for people organized and discontent, like to La Victoria, La Pincoya…The taking field became in a big social movement, where the people strife for right to housing.

The homeless is a problem to de state but the solution is a precarious dwelling-for cut cost-, whit lacking square meters (average 40 m2 or less), where they lived about four people or more, and they are situated in the periphery of the town. Produced a fragmentation to the space, elitisation to the space, gentrification, injustice and more injustice social.

Is very sad reality that a lot of people living, and there are people who still no solutions, living in the street, under a bridge, overcrowdings, in a familiar home, very unfair reality because in Chile there are money, but It is not well managed, almost do not see housing as a social right, but rather as a commercial product

The right to dwelling is a movement to persist and for me the solution –because the state is incompetent to this problem- is the taking fields, the auto construction, the organized to the people, radicalization to the decisions. I hope that in a near time all the people have right to de home in a good conditions.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MONEY IN MY LIFE

Hello friend bloggers, today I am going to talk about “the importance of money in my life”. Well, I think that the money is the dirty machine that move the world, and the model capitalist that we live. And everything surrounding in the city is made for pay, buy, pay, pay.

The advertising, fulfills the roll most important in this model, because leads you to want all that send, also, is very conditioning because leads you wish stuff that you don’t need, or want things that the model sold like the best form to do your life, like buying a home, car, etcetera. All things is linked with the ownership or private property, and this things you tie to pay a rent, a credit card, a mortgage, installment, tax, pay debts, salary, etcetera. And beyond the debs or credits, all translated to money in this system, the education, the art, culture…

Well, I mention this things because, the money despite what has been said, obviously that affect in my style of life, in my decisions, and in thing that I can’t or can do, because something the money limited me.
The money, the culture of money of buy and throw out, is a cycle insert in our consumer society, that had so much inequality, polarization, accumulation of property, privatization of the nature –water, river, minerals, glaciers…-, destruction of nature, felling wood, exploding people, having bad style of life, mass production, all this for sell a product to be consumed for you.
Then, the money, is very important in this society, in my life and the all people, because I don’t want I’ll affect. It’s a bad landscape, but always there are things to do, the autogestion, organization local, with the community, raising awareness, production local…. is a great way to come.

Well, I leave two interesting documentaries, if you can see :)

THE SILENCE OF DAWSON ISLAND

The Silence of Dawson Island, it’s a Chilean short film directed by Alex Ribera, and the script was written by Marcelo Guajardo. This movie wants to rescue events in our modern history, nineteenth and twentieth century, also seeks to inform the public about the existing assets in the area as Selk'nam cemetery, the chapel San Rafael and concentration camps which operated between 1973 and 1974.

Dawson Island is located in the south tip of Chile, exactly in the Estrectro de Magallanes, Tierra del Fuego, to 100 kilometers away south of Punta Arenas.

Tierra del Fuego was stained with blood, from the arrival of foreign colonists who liquidated the Selknam, destroying their culture, evangelizing and killing Aborigines.

The repression of the military coup of 1973, sent to ministers, parliamentarians, among others, as politicians prisoners to Dawson Island, where they were tortured, humiliated, and inhumane practices were generated by the military.
The Dawson Island Dawson became the imprisonment of a divided country.
The island has a history of suffering, death and  repression.
